How it is made
All our natural soaps are inspired and freshly handcrafted on Great Barrier Island in New-Zealand using carefully chosen, quality vegetable oils for moisturizing properties. We saponificate these oils with lye made up with fresh rainwater or pacific ocean water. After saponification they become soap with glycerin. This glycerin appears naturally in the cold soap making process. Because we use this cold process, the good properties of the oils and nutrients are mostly still active. The glycerin in the soap is moisturizing for your skin because it pulls moist out of the air to your skin. In most commercial soaps this glycerin is extracted from the soap and sold as a by product which is much more valuable than the soap itself. This soap becomes drying for your skin and needs more chemicals and synthetics to replace the glycerin.
100% pure essential oils are used for their aromatherapy benefits and beautiful scent. Then locally sourced nutrients from Great Barrier Island such as our own organic Manuka honey, fruit, garden herbs etc.
We will NEVER use artificial fragrance oils, color, preservatives or any other synthetic additives.
Every soap is nicely decorated with natural or recycled materials such as dried or pressed flowers, hessian, New-Zealand flax, shells hand stamped recycled paper etc. They make beautiful practical natural gifts for your relatives and friend on the other side of the country or world, we will wrap them up nicely and send directly to them!
Going back to the old fashion soap making is better for the environment and most of all better for the health of your skin.
